Hakan Seyalıolu

Hakan has managed globally-scaled products with over a billion users at Google as a Manager and Technical Lead. He has significant hands-on experience in analytics, machine learning, cryptography, and mobile application development. Hakan has also led academic-industrial collaborations for aphasia recovery and outreach efforts for sign language education in Nicaragua through his publishing company, Thorny Games.
Fundamentally, he believes thoughtful policy will be decisive in whether technology deeply divides or unites and makes us stronger. Hakan holds a Ph.D. from UCLA, is a NSF Graduate Fellow, a Fulbright Scholar, and graduated Summa Cum Laude from William & Mary.
Hakan is serving with Sen. Ben Ray Luján (D-NM) and working on digital platforms, broadband, privacy, and algorithm issues.
