Applications are open for the 2021 Congressional Innovation Fellowship

There should always be a technologist in the room where policy is created. Someone who understands engineering, data analysis, cyber security, artificial intelligence. Someone who can bring a different, yet critical, perspective to the policymaking process.

Five years ago, our founder, Travis Moore, started a crowdfunding campaign to achieve just that. Since TechCongress’ establishment, we’ve sent 39 fellows to Congress. Their success shows what putting a technologist in the room can do – our alums have helped pass the OPEN Government Data Act, helped reveal that Russians were targeting members of Congress on their personal devices and Gmail accounts, and provided invaluable aid as Congress shifted to a remote work almost overnight during the pandemic. They’ve served with some of the top leaders in Congress, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Senate Majority Whip John Thune (R-SD), Senator Brian Schatz (D-HI), and Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR).

Today, TechCongress is thrilled to be growing again by recruiting for our sixth class of Congressional Innovation Fellows!

Between now and September 3, we’re looking for top engineers, computer scientists, and other technologists who want to apply their skills to some of the biggest challenges facing our country and help shape technology policy.  Even if you’ve never thought you might want to work in government, you should give the Congressional Innovation Fellowship a look.

Throughout the next six weeks, we’ll be holding networking events and information calls where you can ask us questions, meet the fellows, and learn more about the fellowship.

We hope you’ll join us and apply!
