The speed of technology advancement is astounding. Our lives are continually more connected with technology – in both positive and potentially negative ways. Maintaining an understanding of technology and its consequences is a serious undertaking, but one that I believe Congress should pursue.
As a TechCongress Fellow, I hope to explore how tech policy can allow me to develop my technical knowledge while impacting policy with technical evidence. My goal is to provide technically sound information to Congress, and to do so with a consideration of the social and ethical impacts. I have long struggled to merge my interest in engineering and technology with the desire to understand and affect social change. As I have gained knowledge and experience in science and technology policy, I think I have found a unique convergence of these passions. I hope this year proves me right!
